AUSTRIAN CHAMPION

  • 7. Mai 2018

Last Weekend the Austrian Championships (Surfgames) took part in Podersdorf. And WTF?! I am Austrian Freestyle Champion now. I am so happy, so stoked – it’s hard to find the right words for it!

Anyways we had two days of 5.2 wind – I ve to say after France this setup felt huge – but heat after heat I felt more confident and sailed better and better. I could beat Chris Sammer this time in the Winners Final of the Single Elimination and during the final of the Double in the sunset with a lot of friends, teammembers and supporters on the beach I faced Tisi Kraschitzer for the final showdown. This time I sailed again super solid – and when I was planing out of a massive Kono mid of the heat I already knew today is my day! I finished strong with double Puneta and an Airfunnel followed by Shakaflaka…and that’s the end of the story…I am Austrian Champion now.

On the next day the wind was a bit lighter – so there was a best Trick Contest…I felt really tired and even a bit ill – but still managed to pull a few decent moves on my big gear and finished 2nd.

I am still so stoked. Thanks also to JBL for the Music in my ears to keep my stoke alive!

Flikka Compact Freestyle News

The Magic Board

Flikka Compact Freestyle

It was about three years ago when I started thinking about making a really short freestyleboard. This was actually the first (and only) board I built myself. Vicky (the board) was about 215cm long and 60 wide – actually it didnt work that bad, but it was just mega heavy. In the meantime I signed up with Flikkaboards and we progressed their freestyleshape. At the point where I thought the board doesnt need any change I tried a small „Compact Waveboard“. From that moment on the „short“ freestyleboard was back into my mind. So I asked Luka about building a proto – I ended up taking a 210cm long 90l Freestyleboard to Capetown and everybody was really sceptic, me too! During the trip I was using the proto more than the normal board, because I fell in love from the very first moment on. Although there were quite some things which were not perfect.

Brazil 2015 – WOW

  • 10. Oktober 201522. März 2017

I probably had the best summer I could imagine. The conditions tried to kill my confidence every single day. I took a rest just 3 days long – but you could sail every day at least on 4.6! In videos Jeri always looks like a perfect spot, but in the end it’s super hard to sail there: it’s gusty, it’s choppy, there are small waves on bigger ones and it can be f*** strong. In the end I loved it. I went for maaaaaaaassive shifties…crashed harder that I could imagine ever before: spit blood, had to vomit – cause the harness hook went straight into my stomach, and could not open my mouth one day, because I hit the boom so hard with my head. Sounds bad, actually no. Thanks Edvan (one of the craziest and nicest guys) I ever met I got more and more into this shifty thing, and just on my last days I landed my first one!!! And a good point about the training of this move was that I got control in mega Shakas!! I did some which were at least 5 or 6metres high! My crew in Brazil was just perfect with my brothers Mo(my real one), Chris (my bro from another mother) and Martina – who is one of the most awesome girls I ve ever met. Thank you all so much.
Chris founded CC-Films and beside doing a very nice imagevideo for JBL we did the first Episode of my upcoming video series „SEEN“.

This is just the warmup. I wanna do basically 2-3 highquality a year from now on. Maybe this sound now a bit enthusiastic, but they idea behind is to create something, like a platform where i summarize my best memories and keep them alive for later. Maybe just from a day, maybe from a longtrip or just from an incredible weekend at home. In the end SEEN is less about the action and more about feelings, nice places and moments I don’t want to forget. Right now I am already working on episode2 which will be completly different from episode1 for sure.
